The Boy and the Starfish
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I would like to share with you a heartwarming story titled "The Boy and the Starfish".
Once upon a time, there was a young boy who loved exploring the beach. One day, he came across thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore due to a storm the previous night. The boy's heart sank as he realized that the starfish would soon die if they were not returned to the ocean.
Despite the enormity of the challenge, the boy decided to make a difference. He started picking up the starfish one by one and throwing them back into the sea. A man passing by noticed the boy's efforts and approached him, saying, "There are thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't possibly make a difference."
Without hesitation, the boy picked up another starfish and gently threw it into the water. He turned to the man and said, "I made a difference to that one."
This simple yet powerful story teaches us several important lessons. Firstly, it reminds us that even small actions can have a significant impact. The boy understood that he couldn't save all the starfish, but he believed in the power of making a difference to one life at a time. We too should remember that our actions, no matter how small, can make a positive change in someone's life.
Secondly, this story highlights the importance of empathy and compassion. The boy didn't ignore the starfish's plight or dismiss it as someone else's problem. He took it upon himself to help, showing kindness and empathy towards these creatures in need. We should strive to cultivate these qualities in ourselves and extend a helping hand to those who need it, just like the boy did.
Lastly, this story emphasizes the significance of taking action. The boy didn't just feel sorry for the starfish and continue on his way. He took action and did what he could to make a difference. Often, we find ourselves wanting to help but feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problems we face. However, if we take that first step and do what we can, we will realize that even the smallest actions can create ripples of change.
In conclusion, "The Boy and the Starfish" is a beautiful reminder that we can all contribute to a better world, one small act of kindness at a time. By believing in the power of our actions, showing empathy, and taking proactive steps, we can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Let us be inspired by the boy's story and strive to create positive change in our own lives and the lives of those around us.
Thank you.
The Tortoise and the Hare
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I would like to share with you a timeless story that holds a valuable lesson for all of us. The story is titled "The Tortoise and the Hare".
In this fable, a hare and a tortoise decide to have a race. The hare, being incredibly fast, becomes overconfident and mocks the tortoise for being slow. The tortoise, however, remains calm and accepts the challenge. As the race begins, the hare quickly dashes ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind.
Feeling secure in his lead, the hare decides to take a nap under a tree while the tortoise continues to plod along slowly. When the hare wakes up, he is shocked to see the tortoise near the finish line. Despite his initial lead, the hare had underestimated the tortoise's steady pace.
In the end, the tortoise crosses the finish line, winning the race. The hare, filled with regret, learns an important lesson about the importance of perseverance and consistency.
This story holds several key lessons for us to reflect upon. Firstly, it teaches us the significance of not underestimating others. The hare made the mistake of assuming that his speed alone would guarantee his victory, disregarding the tortoise's determination. We should remember that everyone has their unique strengths and abilities, and it is important to respect and acknowledge them.
Secondly, this story emphasizes the value of perseverance. The tortoise's slow and steady approach may have seemed inferior to the hare's speed, but it ultimately led to his success. We too should persevere in the face of challenges, even when the odds are against us. By remaining focused and determined, we can achieve our goals, just like the tortoise did.
Lastly, this story reminds us of the dangers of arrogance and complacency. The hare's overconfidence led to his downfall. We should always strive to maintain humility and avoid underestimating the efforts of others. By doing so, we create a more inclusive and supportive environment where everyone's contributions are valued.
In conclusion, "The Tortoise and the Hare" serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance, humility, and not underestimating others. Let us learn from the tortoise's steady determination and avoid the hare's complacency. By embracing these lessons, we can navigate the race of life with grace and achieve our goals. Thank you.
different people have different career outlooks. some people want to become civil servants; some people hope to start their own business; some people dream of being freelancers, and so on.
however, my ideal job is teaching. firstly, i’m told that teachers have a high income. with the high income, i can open a training school to help the children in poor families with their education. secondly, teachers always have summer and winter holidays, thus i will have more free time to relax myself. more importantly, teachers are angels to students, who can pass on the knowledge to students as well as help them develop their hobbies and interests. i can’t imagine how happy i will feel when i see my students become elites.
in order to be a qualified teacher, i should read more books to acquire more knowledge, and train my patience and improve my communication and handwriting abilities.
she kindled a third match. again shot up the flame; and now she was sitting under a most beautiful christmas tree ,far larger, and far more prettily decked out, than the one she had seen last christmas eve through the glass doors of the rich merchant's house. hundreds of wax-tapers lighted up the green branches, and tiny painted figures, such as she had seen in the shop-windows, looked down from the tree upon her. the child stretched out her hands towards them in delight, and in that moment the lights of the match warm quenched; still, however, the christmas candles burned higher and higher, she beheld them beaming like stars in heaven; one of them fell, the lights streaming behind it like a long, fiery tail. “now some one is dying,” said the little girl, softly, for she had been told by her old grandmother, the only person who had ever been kind to her, and who was now dead that whenever a star falls an immortal spirit returns to the god who gave it. she struck yet another match against the wall; it flamed up, and surrounded by its light, appeared before her that same dear grandmother, gentle and loving as always, but bright and happy as she had never looked during her lifetime.
