  I did my first swimming in a pool last week.The pool was surrounded by a large dark green amphitheater which sloped steeply upward.Bands of lights overhead were turned off,and only the pool remained lighted,from below the surface.They glowed like a luminous,smoky,green-blue cloud suspended in a black cavern.I ped in.Amazingly,the light seemed to increase my ability to float.The water was cold,and it bore me up as though I was made of cork and could float forever.

  Swimming in a pool gives me much pleasure.The water is tamed and imprisoned;the challenge has been filtered out of it along iwth bacteria.For me,the greatest pleasure is being in the calm water and having a sense of complete control of it.
