The Spring Festival英语作文「附中文」 篇一

The Spring Festival

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional festival in China. It is a time for family reunions, feasting, and celebration. The festival falls on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar, which usually occurs in late January or early February. It lasts for 15 days, with various customs and traditions observed during this period.

One of the most significant customs during the Spring Festival is the reunion dinner. Families gather together on New Year's Eve to enjoy a lavish feast. The dinner usually includes a variety of delicious dishes, such as fish, dumplings, and sticky rice cakes. Each dish has its own symbolic meaning, representing good luck, prosperity, and happiness for the coming year. The reunion dinner is a time for family members to catch up, share stories, and strengthen the bond between relatives.

Another popular tradition is the exchange of red envelopes. Red envelopes, also known as "hongbao," are small red packets containing money. They are given by married couples or elders to children, unmarried adults, and employees as a symbol of good luck and blessings. Receiving a red envelope is considered auspicious and brings good fortune for the upcoming year.

In addition to these customs, the Spring Festival is also marked by various cultural activities and performances. Traditional dragon and lion dances are performed on the streets, accompanied by loud drums and cymbals. Fireworks and firecrackers are set off to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. People also visit temples to pray for a prosperous year ahead.

The Spring Festival is not only celebrated in China but also by Chinese communities around the world. It is a time for Chinese people to embrace their cultural heritage, strengthen family ties, and wish for a prosperous year ahead. The festival is filled with joy, laughter, and excitement, making it a truly special time of the year.

Celebrating the Spring Festival Abroad

As a Chinese student studying in a foreign country, celebrating the Spring Festival away from home can be both challenging and exciting. It is a time when I miss my family, hometown, and the familiar traditions. However, it also offers a unique opportunity to introduce Chinese culture to my international friends and experience the festival in a different setting.

To celebrate the Spring Festival abroad, I organize a gathering with fellow Chinese students and friends who are interested in Chinese culture. We decorate the venue with red lanterns, couplets, and paper cuttings, creating a festive atmosphere. We prepare traditional Chinese dishes, such as dumplings, tangyuan (sweet rice balls), and niangao (sticky rice cake), to share with everyone. We also teach our international friends how to make dumplings and introduce them to the significance of each dish.

During the celebration, we perform traditional Chinese music and dance, including the lion dance and dragon dance. We also showcase Chinese calligraphy, showing our friends the beauty and artistry of Chinese characters. Through these cultural performances, we hope to share the joy and richness of Chinese traditions with our friends from different countries.

Another important aspect of celebrating the Spring Festival abroad is staying connected with family and friends back home. We use video calls and social media to greet our loved ones and send them our best wishes. Even though we are physically apart, technology allows us to bridge the distance and maintain the sense of togetherness during this special time.

While celebrating the Spring Festival abroad may be different from the traditional festivities in China, it provides a valuable opportunity to promote cultural exchange and understanding. It allows us to share our customs, traditions, and values with people from different backgrounds. It also encourages us to appreciate our own cultural heritage and strengthens our sense of identity as Chinese individuals.

In conclusion, celebrating the Spring Festival abroad is a unique and enriching experience. It allows us to cherish our cultural traditions, share them with others, and create lasting memories. Although we may be far from home, the spirit of the festival remains the same – a time for family, reunion, and the hope for a prosperous year ahead.

  春节英语作文【篇二】

Will Christmas Replace the Spring Festival?

Christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in China. Christmas cards become popular with students. People hold Christmas parties and exchange Christmas girts. A lot or TV and radio programs about Christmas are on. Meanwhile the Spring Festival is less appealing (有吸引力的)to youngsters. Thus some people wonder whether Christmas will replace the Spring Festival.

This worry is fairly unnecessary. Why ? One reason lies that Christmas only affects Christians, college students and joint-venture (合资企业)workers. Another reason is that Christmas is mostly celebrated in cities. Few people in countryside show extre

me interest in this exotic(带有异国情调的) festival. By contrast, the Spring Festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family.

I think,it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the West,a lot of Western holidays have been gradually introduced into China. For us Chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional

festivals. For centuries Chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. And we will treasure the Spring Festival forever.
