Introduction to Television - Part 1

Television, also known as TV, is one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. It has become an integral part of our lives, providing us with entertainment, information, and education. In this essay, I will introduce the basic components and functions of a television.

A television consists of several key components, including a screen, a tuner, a speaker, and electronic circuits. The screen is where the images and videos are displayed. It can be made of various materials, such as glass or plastic, and comes in different sizes. The size of the screen is measured diagonally from one corner to another.

The tuner is responsible for receiving television signals. It can be either analog or digital, depending on the type of television. Analog tuners are gradually being replaced by digital tuners, which provide better picture and sound quality. With a digital tuner, viewers can access a wider range of channels and enjoy high-definition programming.

The speaker is the part of the television that produces sound. It is usually located at the bottom or on the sides of the screen. The sound quality of a television can vary, depending on the brand and model. Some televisions also come with external speakers or soundbars for enhanced audio experience.

The electronic circuits in a television control various functions, such as adjusting the volume, changing channels, and adjusting the brightness and contrast of the screen. These circuits are powered by electricity and are controlled by a remote control or buttons on the television itself.

Television serves multiple purposes in our daily lives. It provides us with entertainment through television shows, movies, and sports events. It also keeps us informed about current events through news programs. Moreover, television can be a powerful educational tool, with channels dedicated to documentaries, educational programs, and language learning.

In conclusion, television is a crucial part of our lives. It consists of several components, including a screen, a tuner, a speaker, and electronic circuits. It provides us with entertainment, information, and education. In the next part of this essay, I will discuss the impact of television on society.

Introduction to Television - Part 2

In the previous part of this essay, I introduced the basic components and functions of a television. In this part, I will discuss the impact of television on society.

Television has revolutionized the way we communicate and receive information. It has brought the world into our living rooms, allowing us to witness historical events, global news, and cultural diversity. Television has the power to shape public opinion and influence social and political issues.

One of the biggest impacts of television is on entertainment. It has become the primary source of entertainment for many people, offering a wide variety of programs and channels to choose from. From sitcoms to reality shows, from dramas to game shows, there is something for everyone on television. It has also given rise to celebrity culture, with actors, musicians, and TV personalities becoming household names.

Television has also had a significant impact on advertising and consumerism. Advertisers spend billions of dollars each year to promote their products and services on television. Commercials are strategically placed during popular shows and events to reach a large audience. Television has the power to create trends, influence buying decisions, and shape consumer behavior.

Education is another area where television has made a profound impact. Educational programs and documentaries provide valuable information and learning opportunities for people of all ages. Children's programs, in particular, play a crucial role in early childhood education, teaching basic skills, values, and concepts. Television can inspire curiosity, encourage creativity, and broaden knowledge.

However, television also has its drawbacks. Excessive television watching can lead to sedentary lifestyles, obesity, and a lack of physical activity. It can also contribute to social isolation and decreased social interaction. Moreover, the content on television is not always reliable or accurate, and viewers need to be critical and discerning.

In conclusion, television has had a significant impact on society. It has changed the way we entertain ourselves, receive information, and educate ourselves. While it has its advantages and disadvantages, television remains an integral part of our lives. It is up to us to use it responsibly and make informed choices about what we watch.

Violent TV Programs Cause More Crime

Nowadays,it seems that programs enjoy great popularity among people, especially among teenagers. Some people assert that violent TV programs cause violence. As far as concerned, the disgraceful violent TV programs shuold be largely responsible for the rising

  crime rate in modern cities.

In the first place, violent TV programs tend to obscure the between good and evil, harming the

social morals and values. As we know, even an adult sometimes cannot diistinguish them,

needless to say a teenager.Consider the case of a boy who imitates the violence on TV just out of curiosity without knowing that he is doing something that he would regret in his life.

In the second place, violent TV programs can gradually change people's behavior, misleading

them to the belief that violence is the most effective way to resolve conflicts.Nowadays,as soon

as you turn on your TV,violence is vividly presented before you, with the success of the criminals encouraging you,the luxurious booty tempting you,and the stupidity of the police cheering you.

We may draw the conclusion that violent TV programs have in a large sense caused crime rate to rise not only because of their destructive influnence on people's morality, but also because of their vicious effect on people's behavior.

Nowadays more and more people like to watch TV. So TV plays a very important part in our life. But watching TV has both advantages and disadvantages. Generally, the advantages can be listed as follows.

Firstly, you can expand your knowledge by watching TV. As we all know, learning things by TV is much faster than by listening to the radio or just by reading books. For it has colorful pictures as well as wonderful music.

Secondly, you may know anybody you want to know such as famous singers, super stars, scientists and so on.

What’s more, you can go everywhere by traveling programs. Let’s suppose, if you like traveling very much, but you have to work on weekends or holidays, you must be very sad. And now open your TV and it’ll take you to anywhere.

Every coin has two sides. The disadvantages are also obvious. For example, watching too much TV can easily become short-sighted, especially for children and students. To make matters worse, some young students are keen on watching TV so that they give up their studies gradually.

Through above analysis, I think watching TV is a way of studying, it is good for us to watch TV. But when we watch TV, we should make a plan otherwise watching TV will destroy our life.

Television, as a popular means of mass media, appeals to people for various reasons. First, it allows us to see as well to hear what is happening in the world. Thus, most distant events are brought right into our homes. Second, it is very convenient. All we have to do is to press the button and sit there, enjoying ourselves. ' Finally, with a TV set, no matter what your interest is and what age group you belong to, you will always find programs to your taste: in short, TV has become so much part of our life that a world without TV would be unimaginable.

However, as some people argue, TV has disadvantages, too. For one thing, much of our good 6me is wasted watching TV and our work and studies are neglected. Another bad effect is that television viewers have become passive and lazy because they just sit there, letting things happen to them, instead of reading and thinking for themselves. Furthermore, influenced by some bed programs, many children, have come to believe that our world is one of violence and dishonesty. They begin to imitate every action of the TV actors and as a result, the crime rate has increased in some areas.

In spite of what bas been said, it should be admitted that there are more advantages over disadvantages in the use of TV. Being a modern device of communication, TV itself is certainly a good invention. As such, only when it is made use of properly, can it produce only good effects. If not, bad results will overweigh the good ones; then TV will become a burden or a "killer".
