光记住单词还不够，还必须要灵活地使用，这样才可以整体提高英语水平。关于语言的使用我有这样的理解：语言当中每个词和人心中的某个抽象概念相对应。
绝大多数单词必须依附于文本才能够拥有具体的含义。拿我自己做例子：我是读过关于钢琴构造的文章才知道felt这个单词可以作为名词使用，是毛毡的意思(就是用来包敲击琴弦的小钢锤的那种材料);读过关于大陆板块以及火山形成的文章，才知道fault这个单词的另外一个意思是断层读过关于营养学的文章才知道condition还有病痛的含义;看过关于老千的电影，才知道骗局被他们成为confidence背单词，一定要在特定的上下文语境中记忆，只有这样才牢靠。脱离或者孤立于文本去背单词，背下来也没多大的用处。
正常的记忆单词顺序应该是这样：
1)先按正常做阅读顺序，开始阅读一篇文章，并做后面题目，比对答案;
2) 开始翻译文章，最好是在笔记本中翻译一句空一行，以便后面修改，做笔记。随手把遇到的生词、词组从词典里查出相应的释义并记录下来;
3) 遇到没有生词却依然读不懂的句子，那就去查查语法书以及其它的一些工具书;
4) 阅读完毕之后，隔一段时间去复习曾经阅读过的文章;
5) 为了复习最后阶段的方便，把依然记忆不够深刻的单词制作一个列表，反复浏览直至彻底记住为止。
