一号墓发掘于1974～1975年之间，是新中国成立后首次发现的黄肠题凑墓，是全国发掘的汉墓中十二座有黄肠题凑的其中一座。也是迄今已发现规模最大、最完整的黄肠题凑墓。为研究古代的帝王葬制，提供了十分重要而珍贵的实物资料。
大葆台一、二号墓，虽早年被盗，但仍出土了陶、铜、铁、玉、玛瑙、漆器、丝织品等400余件文物。其中许多具有较高的工艺水平，是研究西汉中晚期政治、经济和文化发展的珍贵实物资料。
